Fulham’s best foot forward for local residents
Community and delicious hot food at SEACC this winter.
From January through to March this year, SEACC was pleased to be able to to offer free food, hot drinks, craft and activities to members of our local community. Thanks to funding from H&F Giving’s Winter Fund, the programme ran for 20 weeks – providing hot food and company at the coldest, and often loneliest time of year.
The Wednesday Club, which the whole community was welcome to join, offered a nutritious hot meal cooked by chef Rosanna Lewis along with a different craft activity each week and was typically followed by a quiz or game of bingo. We also provided Club members with essentials such as hot water bottles, blankets, groceries and toiletries.
Alongside the Wednesday Club programme, we introduced our £1 Wednesday offer in the cafe for other building users where all hot drinks are available for £1 after 1pm, including all of our speciality coffee. This offer continues to run, making Wednesdays afternoons a great moment to drop by the cafe!
Over the course of the programme SEACC provided 289 free hot meals, with 52% of the visitors being aged over 65.
One Wednesday Club member said:
‘I like the club so much, all the activities are so interesting for me. There are so many
different kids of activities such as knitting, bingo, drawing, colour painting, quiz and so
much things to do. I am really enjoying it. Every time I feel very welcome, and nice
atmosphere, make a lot of new people and friends. Thanks for giving us the chance to help
me improve our health and spirit’. Hopeful the club continues to run’.
SEACC are looking for funding opportunities and partnerships to bring back the Wednesday Club in the Autumn.
